Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The log partition coefficients for the rosin ester substances range from 2.44 - >6.5.

The log partition coefficient of Resin acids and rosin acids, esters with glycerol is 3.97 at 20 - 25°C and pH 6.1 - 6.6.

Additional information

A study following the EU method A.8 (shake-flask method) was used as the key study (Chilworth Technology, 2010a). The following partition coefficient result was obtained: Log P = 3.97 at 20°C and pH 6.1 – 6.6.

An additional supporting study is available for Resin acids and rosin acids, esters with glycerol, conducted according to OECD 117 HPLC method (Water Quality Institute, 1993a). This study showed no detectable peak corresponding to log Kow > 1.5, whether at pH2 or pH 7.5. It should be noted that the substance has extremely low water solubility (< LOQ of 0.43 mg/L); therefore, it will tend to be "pushed out" of the water phase.
