Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Expert statement.

The authors certify that, according to the manual of decisions, the substance does not contain:

- electronegative atoms which are present constitute a high proportion of the molecule and are bond to elements in a high oxidation state;

- electronegative atoms bonded to each other or to other electronegative elements such as iodine, nitrogen, sulphur or phosphorus.

Furthermore, the substance also does not contain one or more of following groups: acetylenic, metal acetylenic, diazirine, diazo, nitroso, nitro, acyl or alkyl nitrite or nitrate, epoxide, triazene, peroxide, azide, chlorate, perchlorate.

Furthermore, the oxygen balance estimated for the idealized C18-carbon acid diamide is around -300 and therefore considered according to the manual of decisions as a "structure with a very low Oxygen Balance (less than minus 100) indicates a low tendency for explosivity".

In conclusion the authors state that the substance does not possess oxidising or explosive properties. In the light of these facts further testing in respect to these properties is not required.

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Description of key information

The substance is not explosive

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

There are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on explosive properties of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: Based on chemical structure the substance is not explosive.
