Conclusions:
This study estimated the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of the test substance,
Alkyl (C12-C14) glycidyl ether; CAS RN 68609-97-2, by gas chromatography (GC-FID). The
partition coefficient for Alkyl glycidyl ether was determined to be 6974.46, which corresponded to a
Log Pow of 3.77.
Executive summary:

The purpose of this study was to estimate the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of the test substance, Alkyl (C12-C14) glycidyl ether; CAS RN 68609-97 -2, by gas chromatography (GC-FID). This study was conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline 107 using the methods described in the approved protocol and STILLMEADOW, Inc. SOPs. There were no

deviations from the protocol that affected the quality or outcome of the study. The partition coefficient for Alkyl glycidyl ether was determined to be 6974.46, which corresponded to a Log Pow of 3.77.

Description of key information

two studies were performed to estimate the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of the test substance, Alkyl (C12-C14) glycidyl ether; CAS RN 68609-97 -2. One by gas chromatography (GC-FID), according to OECD Guideline 107, using 0.1g test substance dissolved in octanol. where he partition coefficient was determined to be 6974.46, which corresponded to a Log Pow of 3.77. Another study according to OECD Guideline 117, using 10 g test substance in 10mL n-octanol determined the log Pow to be >6.0 by estimating the solubility data in n-octanol and in water .

Additional information

A study was performed to estimate the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of the test substance, Alkyl (C12-C14) glycidyl ether; CAS RN 68609-97 -2, by gas chromatography (GC-FID). This study was conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline 107 using the methods described in the approved protocol and STILLMEADOW, Inc. SOPs. Approximately 0.1 g of Alkyl glycidyl ether was dissolved in approximately 30 ml equilibrated n-octanol. There were no deviations from the protocol that affected the quality or outcome of the study. The partition coefficient for Alkyl glycidyl ether was determined to be 6974.46, which corresponded to a Log Pow of 3.77.

Another study was performed to determine the partition coefficient log Pow of Oxirane, mono[(C12-14- alkyloxy)methyl] derivs. / ERC Nr 17 using the flask shaking method as described in OECD guideline no. 117, “Preliminary estimate of the partition coefficient”. About 10 g of test item was added to 10 mL of n-octanol. The solubility in water (performed in Study C81364) was found to be very poor and the solubility in n-octanol to be very high indicating a partition coefficient above 6. Hence, a main test according to OECD Guidelines 107/117 (either HPLC or flask shaking method) could not be applied. Therefore the partition coefficient of Oxirane, mono[(C12-14-alkyloxy)methyl] derivs. / ERC Nr 17 was estimated using the solubility data in n-octanol from the pre-test and in water from the main test (performed in Study C81364) and was found to be log Pow > 6.0.
