Additional information

Stability

A study was performed to determine the rate of hydrolysis of Azodicarbonamide as a function of pH, according to OECD Guideline 111. Te½values of 47 days, 2 days and 2 hours were obtained at pH 4, 7 and 9, respectively.

Biodegradation

In the aquatic environment ADCA is not readily biodegradable. Based on the aquatic toxicity EC/LC50 values all greater than 10mg/l and the NOEC for long term toxicity all greater than 1mg/L the substance is not classified as dangerous to the aquatic environment

according to Directive 76/548/EEC, and is not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment according to the CLP regulation 1272/2008. Exposure to sediment and soil is not expected and data for assessing degradation in these environmental media are not required.

Bioaccumulation

No study is required, as the azodicarbonamide has no potential to bioaccumulate (log10Kow value below 1.0).

Transport and distribution

The adsorption coefficient was defined according to EEC method C19, OECD method 121 and in compliance with GLP. ADCA was found to have a log10Kocvalue of less than 1.3.
