Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
appearance / physical state / colour
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
weight of evidence
Study period:
no data
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
data from handbook or collection of data
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to same study
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Data in this peer-reviewed publication were taken from many sources, including both compilations and primary literature. Where conflicts were found, the value deemed most reliable was chosen for inclusion in the handbook. Reference sources were not provided for this parameter, nor was the experimental method.
GLP compliance:
not specified
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
Form:
crystalline
Substance type:
inorganic
Conclusions:
Under the test conditions the appearance of the test substance was reported to be a crystalline solid.

Description of key information

Weight of evidence approach based on two peer-reviewed data from handbooks (Lewis, 1992; Lide, 2001). Both handbooks reported zirconium dichloride oxide to be a crystalline solid. In addition, visual observations as recorded in several test reports indicate the substance to be off white.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid

Additional information

The two peer-reviewed data (Lewis, 1992; Lide, 2001) indicate that zirconium dichloride oxide is a crystalline solid. In addition, visual observations as recorded in several test reports indicate the substance to be off white. This information is in line with the visual observations made by different producers of zirconium dichloride oxide.
