ATBS is a member of a category of highly dissociable compounds and which would be expected to be poorly absorbed. The LD50 of 1830 mg/kg is consistent with poor absorption in the gastro-intestinal tract. The NOAEL in the repeat dose toxicity study is on the same order as the LD0. Hence, ATBS does not appear to accumulate in the body as there is no cumulative toxicity. This suggests it is rapidly excreted in the urine in keeping with compound which dissociate completely. The toxico-kinetics of ATBS in rodents is characterized by poor absorption and lack of cumulative toxicity. Similar chemicals are rapidly excreted, but poor absorption is a more likely explanation of lack of cumulative toxicity.
