Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Vapour pressure of Dibenzoyl Peroxide was estimated by calculation at 9,07.10-5 hPa (at 25°C).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0.009 Pa
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

For safety reasons, Dibenzoyl Peroxide cannot be dried (it is explosive at the dry state) and the measurement on the wet product is not reliable (the estimated vapour pressure of dibenzoyl peroxide is very low and so, there is a risk to measure only the vapour pressure of water). Consequently, the experimental determination of vapour pressure for dibenzoyl peroxide is very difficult and we have chosen to determine this data using a calculation method.

The estimation of the vapour pressure of dibenzoyl peroxide as been performed using the EPISUITE model v1.43 with the estimated boiling point given by the model. Estimated vapour pressure (using Modified Grain method) is 9,07.10-5hPa at 25°C with the following input data:

- boiling point : 328,57°C (estimated)

- melting point : 106°C (data coming from literature).

This result shows that Dibenzoyl Peroxide has a very low potential of volatility.
