<30°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

HFOs do not have sharply-defined melting points because they are highly heterogeneous mixtures of petroleum hydrocarbons of varying molecular weights. To better describe phase or flow characteristics of petroleum products, the pour point is routinely used. The pour point of heavy fuel oils is <30°C (CONCAWE, 1998). The pour point was determined using the ISO 3016 test method. Additionally, a range of pour point values ranging from -2 to 35°C have been reported.
