Because the difference between the two main test measurements was <= 3.5 (mean value x 0.029), a second main test was not necessary.

A flash point value of 120°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a relevant test method and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable.

Additional information

There are three reliable studies for the flash point of the submission substance. A measured flash point value of 120°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a non-equilibrium closed-cup method in accordance with ISO 2719 Test Method and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as key study. In other reliable studies, a flash point value of 107°C at 1013 hPa was determined using the seta-flash closed cup method and a value of 116.7°C at 1013 hPa was determined using ASTM D 3828-87 method. The key study has been selected as the study with the highest reliability and which was recently conducted.

In available secondary sources to which reliability could not be assigned, flash point values of 98-136°C were reported for the substance.

Differences in the flash point result could be due to differences in purity of the commercial samples tested and the test method used.

A measured flash point of 120°C and a predicted boiling point of 240°C, indicate that the substance should not be classified for flammability according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
