Description of key information

Additional information

In context of stability in the environment, only information about hydrolysis is required under REACH for monomethylamine. The substance is stated to be thermodynamically stable in water to hydrolysis at pH 4, 7, and 9 (Verscheuren, K., 1988). No further information is given.

Despite information about phototransformation in air is not mandatory, different data sources, based on scientifically accepted calculations are available. The key information is taken from the computer tool EPIWINv3.20 (software AOPWINv1.92 by US-EPA) which assumes OH as sensitiser and gives an overall rate constant of 22.2648 E-12cm³/mol*sec. Taking a 24 hour-day into account 50 % degradation of monomethylamine will occur within about 17 hours.
