Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of γ-butyrolactone (GBL) to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) has been tested according to EU Method C.2 and yielded an EC50 value of >500 mg/L (BASF, 1988). This result indicates that GBL exhibits a low order of acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
