- Test procedure:
- burning time over 250 mm for metal powders or metal alloys
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- non flammable
- Remarks:
- Migrated information
- Conclusions:
- In contact with the flame the test item glowed. The glowing immediately extinguished after removal of the burner.
Since no burning or glowing over the length of the pile was observed the test item was classified as “not highly flammable“.
Referenceopen allclose all
The test was started by trying to ignite the pile at one end with a gas flame. During heating, the test item glowed. During the ignition period of 5 minutes, the test item was not ignited. The flame immediately extinguished when the flame was removed. No burning or glowing spread over the length of the pile was observed. The test was repeated with the same results at the other end of the pile.
Description of key information
not flammable solid
(EU method A.10)
not pyrophoric
not flammable in contact with water
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- non flammable
Additional information
Non flammable solid. Based on chemical structure pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water are not to be expected.
Justification for classification or non-classification
The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive, but not sufficient for classification:
No propagation of burning in a test according to EU Method A.10.
Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.
