Based on the results of the two studies on readily biodegradability as well as the prediction of the BIOWIN QSAR model Benzoguanamine can be considered as not readily biodegradable in water. Nevertheless the simulations give indication on ultimate biodegradation within a timeframe of weeks to months.

As the freshwater compartment has been identified in the distribution modelling as the only compartment of concern and the assessment of the identified uses showed no risk for the environment no further testing on biodegradation in soil and sediment have been proposed in accordance with Annex IX (endpoint 9.2.1.3 & 9.2.1.4) of the REACH Regulation.

In line with Annex IX (endpoint 9.2.1.2) further simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water has been proposed. However, as no risks for the aquatic environment were identified in the chemical safety assessment no additional interim risk mitigation measurements have been introduced.
