Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis as a function of pH has been examined using OECD test methods. While few details are available, it was reported that no hydrolysis occurred at pH 4 and 50 deg C. Measured half lives of 17.5 days at pH 7 and 11.9 days at pH 9 (extrapolated to 25 deg C from data obtained at elevated temperature) were reported.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
17.5 d
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

A brief summary of a study conducted by Eastman Kodak describes no hydrolysis occurring following 96 hours in water at neutral pH and at 100 deg C.

Stability of the substance against hydrolysis was also calculated using SPARC online tool v4.6, module Hydrolysis.

A base-catalysed second-order hydrolysis rate constant (Kb) equal to 0.014 L/(mol-sec) at 25 deg Cwas estimated using a structure estimation method. This corresponds to half-lives of 15.7 years at pH=7, 1.57 years at pH=8 and 57.3 days at pH 9.
