Description of key information

Testing of diethyl ether regarding toxicity to soil macro-organisms is scientifically unjustified, due to high volatility and consequently low sorption to soil. This is confirmed by the outcome of the CSR.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Diethyl ether has a very high volatility (see section 4.6) and low Log Pow (1.05 at 20 °C). Consequently, also the LOG Koc is low and adsorption to soil is not significant. This is confirmed by the outcome of the chemical safety assessment and consequently testing of toxicity to soil macro-organisms is scientifically unjustified.
