Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

A fugacity level III calculation, using a four compartment (air, water, soil and sediment) model has been conducted using the Mackay model (DeGroot, 2005). A 100 % release to the water compartment was assumed. Based on the results of the calculation, peracetic acid is expected to partition almost exclusively to the aquatic compartment (99.95 %) with the remainder to sediment (0.040 %), soil (0.002) and air (0.009 %). The measured Henry’s Law constant of 0.217 Pa m³ mol-1 indicates that volatilisation from surface water is not expected. Thus, high water solubility, low vapour pressure and low octanol-water partition coefficient lead to the conclusion, that peracetic acid is mainly found in the water compartment without removal via volatilisation.
