Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The values for the log Pow of –0.52 (measured) and –0.26 (calculated at pH7) indicate that peracetic acid has a low potential for bioconcentration and bioaccumulation, log Pow values below 3 are regarded to be indicators of low accumulation potential.

Based on the available information it can be concluded that peracetic acid has a low bioaccumulation potential.

Due to the physical/chemical properties of peracetic acid an adsorption to sediment is not likely to occur: The solubility of peracetic acid is high (> 106 mg/L) and the calculated mean Koc is rather low (1.06). These values indicate that peracetic acid will remain in the water phase. Peracetic acid degrades rapidly in contact with organic substance. Consequently, any amount of peracetic acid which comes in contact with the sediment is rapidly decomposed
