Description of key information

The chlorinated isocyanurates are rapidly reduced by reaction with inorganic species in the soil. The mobility of CYA in soil appears to decrease with decreasing organic matter concentration. Cyanuric acid is weakly absorbed and highly mobile in soils and sediments.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The adsorption of cyanuric acid on four different soil types was assessed (Michael & Cummings 1982). The soil / water coefficient, K, is <1 for all soils, therefore, cyanuric acid is weakly adsorbed and highly mobile in all soils.
