The results of the transformation/dissolution tests (IUCLID 5.6.) and of the aquatic toxicity tests documented in this section 6 all consistently demonstrate the very limited solubility of ZnS. For this reason, some of the tests are waived (because no exposure to zinc ions is anticipated) and ZnS is not classified for aquatic toxicity.
The results on aquatic toxicity obtained with soluble or slightly soluble zinc compounds are not considered relevant for ZnS.
