Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Data are not available to allow the distribution of DBTO, within the environment to be modelled. However, based on the low water solubility of the substance (< 1 mg/L) it is unlikely to be associated with water to a significant degree but is more likely to be associated with soils and sediment. EUSES 2.1 (using the QSAR predominantly hydrophobics) calculates a Koc of 2.62 x 10^4 using the Log Kow of 5.33 derived by EPIWIN. It is recognised that EPIWIN is not validated for organometallic compounds, however, these estimates are considered to provided reasonable estimates for use in the risk assessment. It is therefore probable that should it enter a sewage treatment plant (STP) it could be associated with sludge with subsequent transfer to agricultural soil. Based on the known chemical properties it is unlikely to be present in air to any significant degree.
