Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A GLP-study according to ASTM method is available for propylene glycol methyl ether. This study is supported by a GLP-study equivalent to OECD guideline 201 and a non-GLP study according to DIN 38412.

Additional information

In the key study, exposure concentrations ranged from 63 to 1,000 mg/l (nominal concentrations). A slight inhibition on cell count (7.1%) was observed after 7 days for all of the concentrations except for 500 mg/l. No significant inhibition was observed for biomass. Based on the nominal concentrations, the EC50 (biomass) was determined to be superior to 1,000 mg/l.

In the two supporting studies, concentrations ranging from 1 to 1,000 mg/l and from 31.25 to 500 mg/l were used. None of the concentrations tested caused more than 21% reduction in cell number compared to the mean cell number in the controls. Based on the nominal concentrations, the EC50 values were determined to be superior to 1,000 mg/l and 500 mg/l, respectively.

The 7 -day EC50 greater than 1000 mg/l will be taken into acount for the risk assessment.
