Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

By analogy with cerium dioxide, dicerium tricarbonate should not show any toxicity to carbon-mineralizing micro-organism.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

An experimental study, scored as Klimisch 2 (Muttzall P.I. & Hanstveit A.O. , 1996) is selected as a key study, showing that cerium dioxide is not harmfull to tested soil microorganisms.

This data is used in a read-accross approach to conclude on the acute toxicity propreties to the soil micro-organisms.

Cerium dioxide shows no adverse effect on the carbon mineralisation activity of the microbial biomass in soil. Cerium dioxide is therefore not expected to have a long-term influence on carbon mineralisation in soil. Consequently, the dicerium carbonate is not expected to present this kind of toxicity properties.
