Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The Koc of methylparaben is estimated as 280, using a log Kow of 1.96 and a regression-derived equation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
280

Additional information

The partion coefficient of methylparaben was determined to be log Pow = 1.98 (see phys.-chem. section for further details). The substance therefore can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption. According to REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex VIII, 9.3.1. (Identification of degradation products) the study does not need to be conducted if based on the physicochemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient).

However, available information from a literature source is provided.
