Additional information

The substance 2,5-dimethylhexan-2,5 was tested for its mutagenic potential based on the ability to induce back mutations in selected loci in several strains of Salmonella typhimurjum in the Ames test. According to the results of the present study, the test substance was not found to be mutagenic in the Ames test under the experimental conditions chosen.

Short description of key information:
The substance 2,5-dimethylhexane-2,5-diol was not mutagenic in a bacterial reverse mutation assay (Ames test).

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on negative results in the Ames tests, the criteria for classification according to EU Directive 67/548/EEC and EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 are not met.
