Description of key information

kinematic viscosity of the test material:
- 3.42 mm2/s at 40°C and 5.50 mm2/s at 20°C
- 2.3 - 2.7 mm2/s at 40°C [supporting information; product properties data by company (result of 13 determinations/batches; study period: 06/2011 - 01/2012)]

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The viscosity was determined using OECD Test Guideline 114 (Viscosity of Liquids):

The viscosity of the test material ‘Distillates (Fischer-Tropsch), C8-26 - branched and linear' has been determined to be 3.42 mm2/s at 40°C and 5.50 mm2/s at 20°C.

However, the substance is a mixture of hydrocarbons (UVCB substance) and has varying viscosities:

the reported viscosity of 2.3 - 2.7 mm2/s describe the range of 13 different batches [product properties data by company (study period: 06/2011 - 01/2012)].

In general terms, lower viscosity grade products contain relatively higher proportions of lower carbon number consistuents.
