Conclusions:
Triticum aestivum (wheat) seeds phytotoxicity in the presence of silicic acid was assessed by watering the plants with 0.17 mM of Si(OH)4 for 10 days after germination, 1 L/week. In addition a hydroponic system was set up to assess the effects of silicic acid on the protection of wheat from mildew . Silicic acid did not induce any phtotoxicity effects based on visual observation of plant growth and devlopment. The test substance did offer protection against powdery mildew based on percentage leaf coverage.
