Additional information

Biodegradation behaviour of m-cresol was assed in several experiments showing that the substance is readily as well as inherently biodegradable in water and soil.

Aerobic degradation experiments in soil yielding a half-live times of 0.6 d for the sandy loam (basic soil) and 11.3 d for the sandy silt loam (acidic soil).

m-Cresol is biodegraded in aquifer sediment under anaerobic conditions and by anoxic river sediment within 3 -4 weeks.

In conclusion, m-cresol is readily biodegradable under aerobic and anaerobic conditions.
