In an OECD 301 F guideline GLP-test performed by Dow (1998) with municipal activated sludge the biodegradation was determined to be 94% based on O2 consumption after 28 d; the 10 -d window was reached. Additionally, mineralization was measured after 28 d by DOC removal (85%) and CO2 evolution (72%). All validity criteria (incl. a positive control) were fulfilled. The study is supported by an OECD 301 C guideline test by NITE (last check-up of database: 2013 -06 -21) where a biodegradation of 64% after 28 d was observed (based on O2 consumption).

The chemical turned out to be poorly biodegradable under marine conditions (< 1% O2 -consumption (28 d)) in a biodegradation test according to OECD TG 306 (Biodegradability in seawater) using natural seawater as inoculum (Eide-Haugmo et al, 2009/2012).

In conclusion, the substance is readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria).
