Additional information

Information on the abiotic degradation of the substance is not available. Since methyl benzoate is readily biodegradable, it is expected to be non-persistent in the environment.

The stability of the test material in the atmosphere was calculated using the software AOPWIN.
It is predicted that the test material will be degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals, with a half-life of 304.1 hours, at European test conditions.
The overall degradation rate constant with OH radicals was estimated to be 0.84E-12 cm3/molecule-sec, equivalent to 7.29E-8 cm3/molecule-day.
