Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Acute toxicity of hydroxypropyl acrylate was investigated on all three trophic levels.

Fish:

LC50(96h) = 3.61 mg/L Pimephales promelas

LC50(96h) = > 10 -< 22 mg/L Leuciscus idus

Invertbrates:

EC50(48h) = 24 mg/L Daphnia magna

Algae:

ErC50(72h) = 6.98 mg/L Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata

NOEC(72h) = 0.625 mg/L Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata

Thus, effect values were all in the same range of concentrations, i.e. between 1 and 10 mg/L, or higher.

This is supported by a solid data set from the structural analogue 2 -hydroxyethyl acrylate.

Fish:

LC50(96h) = 4.8 mg/L Pimephales promelas

LC50(96h) = 6.5 mg/L Oryzias latipes

LC50(96h) = 6.81 mg/L Leuciscus idus

LC50(96h) = 17.5 mg/L Cyprinodon variegatus

Invertbrates:

EC50(48h) = 5.2 mg/L Daphnia magna

Algae:

ErC50(72h) = 6.0 mg/L Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata

NOEC(72h) = 1 mg/L Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata

In addition, a long-term investigation on the reproduction of Daphnia magna with the structural analogue HEA showed a NOEC (21d) of 0.48 mg/L.

Several toxicity tests towards microorganisms showed effect concentrations well above 100 mg/L. Therefore, inhibition of biodegradation of activated sludge is not expected when the test substance is introduced in appropriate low concentrations.
