Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The adsorption/desorption capacity ofN-benzyl-N-C16-18 (even numbered) -alkyl-N-methyl-C16-18 (even numbered) -alkyl-1-aminium chloride has been read across with long-chain monoalkyl and dialkyl ammonium compounds (QAC’s). Larson and Vashon (1983) is a sound reference, considered reliable and suitable for use as a key study. This is supported by QSARs and calculated values.

The following information is taken into account for any environmental exposure assessment:

Long-chain monoalkyl and dialkyl ammonium compounds (QAC’s) can be bound very strongly by some minerals, while in others relatively small distribution constants were estimated. Under environmental conditions, the sorption properties of long-chain monoalkyl and dialkyl ammonium compounds (QAC’s) probably vary in a wide range depending on the nature of the adsorbant and the same conclusion applies toN-benzyl-N-C16-18 (even numbered) -alkyl-N-methyl-C16-18 (even numbered) -alkyl-1-aminium chloride.
