Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to "ECHA, Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment – Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance" strontium nitrate relates to a chemical group (NO3-M+) which is in general associated with oxidising properties. Due to the fact that barium nitrate is used as positive reference substance in the EC method A.17 of Annex V of Directive 67/548/EEC and under the assumption that strontium nitrate reacts in the same way as barium nitrate it is concluded that strontium nitrate will be classified by default to have oxidising properties in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC (O; R8 Contact with combustible material may cause fire) and CLP Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (Oxid. Solid 1; H271 May cause fire or explosion; strong oxidizer)
