Description of key information

There is no available study on the chronic toxicity and carcinogenicity of tert-dodecanethiol (TDM). However, results from subchronic studies indicate that TDM does not cause any significant systemic toxicity resulting from prolonged exposure after oral and inhalation exposures. The consistently negative results from the series of in vitro genotoxicity tests assessing gene mutation, DNA perturbation and chromosomal damage do not suggest any cause for concern with respect to carcinogenicity.
