Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

BIOACCUMULATION

AQUATIC/SEDIMENT

According to Annex IX of the REACH Regulation 2006/1907/EC, section 9.3.2, column 2, SAS need not to be tested in a bioaccumulation test as the substance has a log Kow < 3 (see IUCLID chapter 4.7, SAS log Kow = 0.2) and/or a low potential to cross biological membranes. The latter is also the case for SAS as it is ionic and it is known from other ionic substances that crossing membranes is made difficult for charged molecules.

For the assessment of SAS indirect exposure of predators the BCF for fish was calculated with the exposure model EUSES 2.1 using the SAS log Kow of 0.2.

BCFfish = 1.4 L/kg wwt

TERRESTRIAL

SAS need not to be tested in a terrestrial bioaccumulation test as the substance has a log Kow < 3 (see IUCLID chapter 4.7, SAS log Kow = 0.2) and/or a low potential to cross biological membranes. The latter is also the case for SAS as it is ionic and it is known from other ionic substances that crossing membranes is made difficult for charged molecules.

For the assessment of SAS indirect exposure of predators the BCF for worm was calculated with the exposure model EUSES 2.1 using the SAS log Kow of 0.2.

BCFworm = 0.9 L/kg wwt
