First-aid measures
General advice: Move out of dangerous area. Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Symptoms of poisoning may appear several hours later. Do not leave the victim unattended.
If inhaled: If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice.
In case of skin contact: Wash the skin immediately with plenty of soap and water; cleaning immediately with polyethylene glycol 400 and washing subsequently with plenty of soap and water would be more effective.
Carefully clean hair, under the nails, and other hidden areas. In case of blueness of lips, skin or nails (cyanosis) let the per-son breathe oxygen. No physical exertion. No consumption of alcohol after product contact.
In case of eye contact: Immediately flush eye(s) with plenty of water. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing.
If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.
If swallowed: Call a physician immediately. DO NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by a physi-cian or poison control center. Keep respiratory tract clear. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Toxic if swallowed. Fatal in contact with skin. Causes mild skin irritation. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Causes eye irritation. Harmful if inhaled.
Notes to physician: Elementary aid, decontamination, symptomatic treatment and depending on the formation of methaemoglobin: intravenous administration of toluidine blue or other redox dyes according to dosage specifications plus ascorbic acid.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.
Hazardous combustion products: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Carbon monoxide, Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Halogenated compounds,
Specific extinguishing methods: Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water.
Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protec-tive equipment and emergency procedures: Use personal protective equipment. Do not breathe vapours/dust.
Environmental precautions: Prevent product from entering drains. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up: Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a designated, labelled waste container. Dispose of wastes in an approved waste disposal facility.
Reference to other sections: See Section First-aid measures, see Section Exposure controls / personal protection, see section Disposal considerations.
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from affected Distributor and Downstream Manufacturer/User of the Registrant´s intermediate.
Advice on safe handling: Persons susceptible to skin sensitisation problems or asthma, allergies, chronic or recurrent respiratory disease should not be employed in any process in which this mixture is being used. Avoid inhalation of vapour or mist. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
For personal protection see section Exposure controls / personal protection.
Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.
Conditions for safe storage: Take action to prevent static discharges. Prevent unauthorized access. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards.
Further information on storage stability: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed
Recommended packing materials: Use original container.
