Justification for type of information:
The determination of the boiling point of HAT ISO is scientifically not justified. REACh Regulation No. 1907/2006, Annex VII, Col. 7.3.2, states as follows: “Boiling point: The study does not need to be conducted - for substances which decompose before boiling (e.g. auto-oxidation, rearrangement, degradation, decomposition, etc.)” HAT ISO is a high-melting substance with a melting range of 239 – 252 °C. This value was determined on a Kofler hot bar according to the Guidelines EU A 1 and OECD 105 and can be assumed as valid. It is likely to assume that at such a high melting range at least partial decomposition occurs, and the substance will not be able to evaporize without considerable decomposition, even under reduced pressure. The estimation of a boiling point of HAT ISO with the US EPA EPIWIN v3.12 programme for estimation of physico-chemical parameters resulted in a boiling point of 590.8 °C according to the adapted Stein & Brown method. Note that the estimation of the melting point of HAT ISO with the EPIWIN v3.12 programme revealed a value of 255 °C, which is in good correlation with the measured value. Therefore, the estimated boiling point is reliable, and performance of a boiling point study is not necessary.
