Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms of 2,2-bis[[(1-oxopentyl) oxy]methyl]propane-1,3-diyl divalerate (CAS-No. 15834-04-5) is assumed to be low.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A BCF was calculated to be 550 L/kg wet weight (BCFBAF v3.00, regression based estimate) which indicates that accumulation in organisms is possible.

However, as polyol esters are metabolised in fatty acids and polyol alcohols via enzymatic hydrolysis (HPV Polyol esters category of the aliphatic esters chemicals, American Chemistry Council, 2004), polyol esters are expected to have a low potential to bioaccumulate.
