Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The particle size distribution of samples of the test substance from three different manufacturers was initially assessed by sieving with a 100 µm sieve. The samples from Arkema, DSM and Saltigo showed nearly no particles less than 100 µm, so in accordance with the integrated testing strategy for granulometry, no further testing was performed on these samples.
In all experiments, sedimentation took place already before the first sampling time: in the three main studies, 86.1, 85.6 resp. 85.6 % of the particles were not retrieved when determining the 100 % value. These particles must be considered as larger than the upper Stokes diameter (200.82 µm).

Additional information

The particle size distribution of samples of 1,2,4-triazole sourced from three different manufacturers was determined using a method which complied with the European Commission technical guidance document, and also conformed with the OECD Guideline 110. A sample of the test substance from Arkema was sieved for about 30 minutes on an Inclyno sieve shaker using a 100µm sieve. The mass passing through the sieve was found to be 2.4%, and as such the substance was deemed to be essentially non-inhalable and, in accordance with the integrated testing strategy for granulometry, no further testing was carried out.

A sample of the test substance from DSM was sieved for about 30 minutes on an Inclyno sieve shaker using a 100µm sieve. The mass passing through the sieve was found to be only 0.248%, and as such the substance was deemed to be essentially non-inhalable and, in accordance with the integrated testing strategy for granulometry,no further testing was carried out.

A sample of the test substance from Saltigo was sieved for about 30 minutes on an Inclyno sieve shaker using a 100µm sieve. The mass passing through the sieve was found to be only 0.463%, and as such the substance was deemed to be essentially non-inhalable and, in accordance with the integrated testing strategy for granulometry,no further testing was carried out.
