Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The results indicate that 1,1’-isopropylidenebis(p-phenyleneoxy)dipropan-2-ol will not persist in the atmosphere as it will be removed via reaction with photochemically-generated hydroxyl radicals. An atmospheric half-life of 1.542 hrs will be used in EUSES. It should be noted that this value is only an estimation of the photodegradation of the substance in the vapour phase and not of adsorbed substance on airborne particles. The importance of this cannot be quantified in EUSES.

Information on photodegradation in water and soil is not available.

Information on the hydrolytic break-down of the substance as a function of pH is available through the results of a preliminary test (Tier 1) according to OECD 111 at pH values normally found in the environment (pH 4 -9). At each pH value a degree of hydrolysis of < 10% was observed after 5 days. According to the guideline, performance of the main study (Tier 2) was not required.

The half-life time of the test substance at 25°C was > 1 year at pH4, pH7 and pH9.
