Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No studies on the chronic toxicity to aquatic invertebrates are available for the members of the PFAE fumarates category. Nevertheless, the acute aquatic toxicity tests of these esters clearly showed no effects occurred in the range of water solubility in fish, daphnia nor algae. Furthermore, only negligible releases into surface waters from sewage treatment plants are expected to take place due to: a) the rapid biodegradability and b) the high adsorption properties and low water solubility’s of these substances, resulting in an effective removal in sewage treatment plants. Therefore chronic exposure of aquatic organisms is unlikely. In addition, available data indicate that all members of the PFAE fumarates are not bioaccumulative. Hence, due to animal welfare reasons and to avoid unnecessary invertebrate tests, chronic toxicity to aquatic invertebrates by the members of PFAE fumarates is not expected to be of concern and further testing is not necessary.
