Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
- Inhalation :
Remove to fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration.
- Skin contact :
After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. Consult a physician.
- Eye contact :
In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Call a physician immediately.
- Ingestion :
Call a physician immediately. Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable extinguishing media: water spray (mist), dry powder, foam.
- Unsuitable extinguishing media: -
- Specific hazards during fire-fighting : heating or fire can release toxic gas.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters : in the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Further information : use water spray to cool unopened containers.
Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions: Use respirator when performing operations involving potential exposure to vapour of the product.
- Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
- Methods for cleaning-up: Sweep up or vacuum up spillage and collect in suitable container for disposal.
Handling and storage
- Handling:
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.
Advice on protection against fire and explosion.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
- Storage:
Keep container tightly closed.
To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight.
Keep in a dry, cool and well ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection
- Exposure limits: no data available
- Engineering controls: Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
- Skin Protection
- Dermal protection: Dermal exposure is considered the primary route of exposure.
- Body: A protective apron or suit such as polyethene tyvek or equivalent should be used to minimize exposure from splashes.
- Eye protection: Chemical goggles or face shield with safety glasses.
- Hand protection: Use neoprene or nitrile rubber gloves.
- Respiratory protection: Approved organic vapor respirator when exposed to vapors from heated material. Approved supplied-air respirator, in case of emergency.
Stability and reactivity
- Stability: Stable under normal conditions.
- Materials to avoid: Strong acids. Strong oxidizing agents.
- Conditions to avoid: Exposure to air.
- Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides. Nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Disposal considerations
- Waste disposal methods:
Dispose in a safe manner in accordance with local/national regulations.
Absorb and incinerate.
Used drums are collected for cleaning by professional contractors. Waste containing DETDA is incinerated in an authorised incineration facility. Deposition in landfill site is not performed.
