Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
activated sludge respiration inhibition testing
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is found to be readily biodegradable and the applied test concentrations are in the range of concentrations that can be expected in the influent of a sewage treatment plant

Description of key information

The NOEC used to define the toxicity to microorganisms endpoint was obtained from the OECD 306 biodegradability study (Drake, 2007). The addition rate of 3.04 mg/L, with 28-days exposure, showed no inhibition to microorganisms which degraded the substance by 73 % after 14-days.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
3.04 mg/L

Additional information

In a biodegradation in water simulation test, conducted in accordance with OECD 306, an addition rate of 3.04 mg/L showed no inhibition to microorganisms which degraded the substance by 73 % after 14 -days. The exposure time was 28 -days, and in accordance with ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment, Chapter R10, this value can be used to derive the PNECstp.
