Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Conclusions:
The 6-h EC50 (basis for effect: biomass) of 2-chlorobenzonitrile for Chlorella vulgaris was determined to be 54 mg/L (photometric determination of wavelength at 680 nm).
Executive summary:

The effect of 2-chlorobenzonitrile on reduction of biomass of Chlorella vulgaris was determined photometrically at 680 nm and 750 nm. No data are available on the concentrations tested. Chlorella vulagris was used in aqueous solution of the test substance at approximately 7.5 x 10^8 cells/ml. The cell suspensions were incubated for 6 hours at 36.5 °C at an illumination intensity of 28 W/m².

The 6-h EC50 was determined to be 54 mg/L and 43 mg/L at 680 nm and 750 nm, respectively.
