Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point of (Z)-octadec-9-enol is 6.5 - 19°C at 1013 hPa.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two melting point values are available for the substance in two handbooks or collections of reliable data which have been subject to peer-review and in which the original sources are traceable. Melting point of 13 - 19°C at 1013 hPa and 6.5°C at 1013 hPa were reported for the substance. The results are considered to be reliable and are used as weight of evidence.

Discussion of trends in the Category of C6-24 linear and essentially-linear aliphatic alcohols:

As chain length increases, melting point increases. This is because molecular weight is higher and intermolecular forces in the substance are all higher.
