Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The objective of this study according to OECD TG 209 was to determine the effect of different concentrations of TKA 45021 on sewage microorganisms by measuring the respiration rate under defined conditions. The preliminary test was conducted at concentrations of 0.10,1,0,10,100 and 1000 mg/L. At the termination of this test, respiration inhibition of 49% was observed at the 1000 mg/L treatment level. Respiration inhibition of <5.9% was observed at the remaining concentrations tested (0.10 to 100 mg/L). Based on these results, concentrations of 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 mg/L were selected for the definitive test.

Oxygen consumption in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg/L test vessels ranged from 0,200 to 0.230 mg O2/L/min, while the oxygen consumption in the 1600 mg/L test vessel was 0.100 mg O2/L/min. When compared to the respiration of the control vessels, <10% inhibition was established for the 100, 200, 400 and 800 mg/L test vessels, while 55% inhibition was established at the 1600 mg/L treatment level. Based on these results, the EC50 value was calculated to be 1520 mg/L with 95% confidence intervals of 960 to 2430 mg/L.

Based on the results, the EC50 value for 3,5-dichlorophenol was calculated to be 15 mg/L, which was within the acceptable limits,(5.0 to 30 mg/L) as specified in OECD 209 Guideline. Thus, all validation criteria were fulfilled.
