All three acute tests on aquatic organisms indicated no toxic effect up to 100 mg/L.

The acute toxicity of the test item on Zebra fish (Danio rerio) was determined in a full 96hour static test according to: OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals, N. 203. The LC50 was defined > 100 mg/L of active substance (corresponding to > 333.3 mg/L of test item nominal concentration) at 96 hours, based on the NOEC = 100 mg/L of active substance.

The acute toxicity on Daphnia magna was determined in a 48hour full static test according to the OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals, No. 202 (2004).The IC50 was defined > 100 mg/L of active substance (> 333.3 mg/L of test item), based on the NOEC = 100 mg/L of active substance

The influence of the test item on the growth of the green algal species Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Selenastrum capricornutum) was investigated in a 72-hour test according to the OECD Guideline No. 201, 2006. In the test item solutions the algal growth rate (r) after 72 hours of exposure was inhibited by a minimum value of 1.1 % for the nominal active ingredient concentration of 1.0 mg/L (3.2 mg/L as test item) to a maximum value of 11.2 % for the highest active ingredient concentration of 100.0 mg/L (333.3 mg/L as test item), compared to the negative control. In the test item solutions the algal yield (Y) after 72 hours of exposure was inhibited by a minimum value of 6.0 % for the nominal active ingredient concentration of 1.0 mg/L (3.2 mg/L as test item) to a maximum value of 45.9 % for the highest active ingredient concentration of 100.0 mg/L (333.3 mg/L as test item), compared to the negative control. The NOEC is then set to 100 mg/l for both Growth rate and Yield.  

According to ANNEX IX of REACH regulation n. 1907/2006, the long term studies on fish could be waived because, based on the short-term study no toxicity for aquatic organisms and no exposure are expected based on the normal use condition of the substance and exposure scenarios.

The toxicity of the test item Sulfosuccinate of Lanolin Alcohol to activated sludge was assessed in a respiration inhibition study according to: EU Commission Directive EC 440/2008, C.11.

Since in the preliminary test any significant effect was shown at the highest tested concentration of active ingredient, the final test was carried out only at the nominal active ingredient concentration of 6000.0 mg/L as test item, corresponding to EC50 > 1800.0 mg/L and NOEC final values of 1800.0 mg/L.
