Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

non explosive

Additional information

No experimental data from a explosiveness study are available. Testing been waived in accordance with column 2 restrictions. The assessment bases on the absence of chemical groups known to be associated with explosive properties. However this finding would be sufficient for assessment, the Oxygen Balances (OB) of submission item structures representing the upper and lower molecular weight (MW) range were calculated. OB values of <-200 indicate absence of concern (ECHA 2012, section Screening procedures and waiving of testing, (b), p 81-2). The calculation was made as follows:

1) High MW representative: C36 H71 Na O3 P, MW 605.5

If x = Number of carbon atoms = 36, y = Number of hydrogen atoms = 71 and z = Number of oxygen atoms = 3

OB = -1600∙(2x+y/2-z)/MW = OB = -1600∙(72+30.5-3)/605.5 = -263

2) Low MW representative: C19 H39 Na O3 P, MW 369.25

If x = Number of carbon atoms = 19, y = Number of hydrogen atoms = 39 and z = Number of oxygen atoms = 3

OB = -1600∙(2x+y/2-z)/MW = OB = -1600∙(38+19.5-3)/369.25 = -236

The OB values are in line with the assessment on the basis of chemical groups and this exercise confirms the conclusion on absence of explosive properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The assessment was made in accordance with ECHA endpoint specific guidance as described in the waiving argument. Due to the absence of chemical groups associated with explosivity the evaluation was stopped and it was concluded that the submission item has no explosive properties.
