other: The test item has melted and formed a brown liquid that evaporates

Preliminary test:

4.1.1. Experimental conditions

Humidity About 27%

Room temperature About 23 °C

Atmospheric pressure 97.9 kPa

4.1.2. Assay No. 1

The test item has melted and formed a brown liquid that evaporates.

4.1.3. Assay No. 2

The same observations as for the assay No. 1 were recorded.

Main test

Taking into account the results obtained during the preliminary test, no main test was performed

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Conclusions:
The flammability of 1,3-diortholyl guanidine (DOTG) was performed in a study performed in accordance with EC regulation 440/2008 EC A 10 method. Twice prelimary tests are performed, no main test is made. The 1,3-diortholyl guanidine (DOTG) is considered as not highly flammable under our experimental conditions.
Executive summary:

Twice assay of flamability are made, twice with the same conclusion: at the start of the test, the test item was a white powder with agglomerates. The test item melted and turned into a beige to clear brown liquid and blackened. Neither ignition, nor propagation was observed.

Description of key information

The flammability of DOTG (1,3-d ortho tolylguaninide) was performed in a study performed in accordance with EC regulation 440/2008 EC A 10 method. Twice prelimary tests are performed, no main test is made. DOTG is considered as not highly flammable under our experimental conditions: since the product turns brown but no propoagation occured.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Two assay of flammability are made by Tieche (DEFITRACE) in 2010 according to EC A10, twice with the same conclusion: at the start of the test, the test item was a white powder with agglomerates. The test item melted and turned into a beige to clear brown liquid and blackened. Neither ignition, nor propagation was observed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The flammability of DOTG was performed in accordance with EC regulation 440/2008 EC A 10 method. Twice preliminary tests are made, but no main test. DOTG is considered as not highly flammable under our experimentals conditions.

As a consequence, DOTG will not be classified as flammable.
