Valid acute toxicity tests with the test substance are available for three freshwater species from three trophic levels). In the guideline study over 96 hours under flow-through conditions 100% mortality was observed at 0.26 mg/L and a value of LC50 was determined to be 0.13 mg/L (based on mean measured concentrations).


 


In a flow-through daphnia study over 48h an EC50 of 3.8 mg/L (nominal) was observed.


 


In the valid static algae study the ErC50 after 72 hours was 3 mg/L (measured initial) based on concentration measured on day 0. The ErC10 was determined to be 1.6 mg/L (measured initial).


 


Since fish is the acutely most sensitive species, a long-term toxicity of the test item to fish (early life-stage toxicity to fish) was conducted and resulted in an EC10 value of 0.064 µg/L based on the most sensitive endpoints, survival and growth.


 


According to the results above, the lowest L(E)C10 value of the three studies (Fish EC10 = 0.064 µg/L) is used in the hazard assessment and for derivation of aquatic PNECs.


 


No test on micro-organisms toxicity is available, but as the substance is readily biodegradable the tested concentration of 2 mg/L is assumed to be non toxic to microorganisms. Therefore no further test on microbial toxicity was conducted and 2 mg/L was used as NOEC for the microorganism toxicity.
