Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No bird toxicity studies are available for COASOL.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Toxicity testing on birds (required in Annex X, section 9.6.1) is not proposed as the substance (COASOL) is readily biodegradable, is not considered hazardous to the environment or human health, and has a low potential for bioaccumalation. In addition,a sufficient mammalian toxicity data set is available which documents the effects of the substance on terrestrial vertebrates. Since COASOL is readily biodegradable and has a very low potential for bioaccumulation, based on QSAR modelling (BCFBAF Arnot-Gobas model) of the individual constituents (BCFs <13 L/kg wwt), secondary poisoning is not considered a relevant route of exposure for birds. If necessary, the mammalian data can be used in place of bird toxicity studies to develop a PNECoral for secondary poisoning. Thus, toxicity to birds is waived for COASOL.
